Soon after becoming Roman dictator, Julius Caesar decided that the traditional Roman calendar was in dire need of reform. Introduced around the seventh century B.C., the Roman calendar attempted to follow the lunar cycle but frequently fell out of phase with the seasons and had to be corrected. In addition, the pontifices, the Roman body charged with overseeing the calendar, often abused its authority by adding days to extend political terms or interfere with elections.

With that in mind Liberty Action News Network has decided that December 28th will be The Liberty New Year. I picked this date purely to separate LANN and build a mythos around Liberty. A move of propaganda not unlike the Pontifices themselves. I suggest for next year that we have a toga party to commemorate this day of rebirth. Liberty New Years is about starting fresh, regrouping and celebrating the future. Through our family's teamwork and work ethic we have plenty of past accomplishments to relish in. But we are a forward thinking group, learning and growing from our past. A main tenant of The Liberty New Year is communication. On the 28th we share our ideas for the coming year, and we listen to others, this is a core value of Liberty and is celebrated on this day. So make sure to comment in our suggestion box about what you want to see in 2019. Happy Liberty New Year!

Because I am the best I have also made a motivational Calendar for 2019. Download the PDF below, print it out and as always let me know how amazing I am. I truly never get sick of it.

Wow! Liberty has done it again! The holiday parties were absolutely amazing! it was so great seeing all of you there. Good conversation, good drinks, and a ton of new families to meet. I would also like to give a shout out to the real MVPs, the plus ones, it can be hard to mingle with a group of people you don’t know and I met a ton of rad peeps. Which does not suprise me as y'all rock, so of course your guests do too.

If you were not able to make it, that stinks, sorry. I think we can all agree the biggest thing you missed was “Between Two Bells” (Video Above)

All I have to say is, there you go and your welcome.

Below is a slideshow of pictures from the 2 parties. Check out the January Newsletter for a super sweet video on our SoCal Party.

This time of year means recognition! Liberty loves to share our successes with the family because they are only possible with teamwork and a strong culture of togetherness. Help us celebrate the individuals that embody the Liberty Spirit!

Welcome to “Minglin’ With Monica”, in this hot new segment we will ask Moinca (all of them in the company that respond) different questions every month. This month they will tell us their most embarrassing story, or at least the ones they want to share!

Our first question for all Monicas out there. -Tell us an embarresing story:

Monica Gomez has 2 stories for us, a work related and non-work related.

"I worked with an underwriter whose last name had changed in her email signature. At the time I wasn’t the jaded individual that I am now, so when I got her on the phone, I busted out with, “HEY CONGRATS ON GETTING MARRIED!! I saw you changed your signature. How awesome!” To which she replied softly and very nicely, “Oh no. I recently finalized my divorce.” I wanted to just hang up, I was so embarrassed, but all that came out of my mouth was, “I guess that can be a good thing too.” She was a good sport about the whole thing and just chuckled. Lesson learned… just keep your mouth shut if you notice a person’s last name has changed."

"I was at a bar for a show in Joshua Tree when I turned around and nearly crashed into a mountain of a person. Who was it? None other than Jason “Hot Aquaman” Momoa. I was naturally speechless and as he walked away, I turned to my husband and say, “OH MY GOD, THAT WAS KHAL DROGO!” He didn’t believe me so we walked out in pursuit of this desert sasquatch.  My husband, friend and I spotted him in the parking lot. I positioned myself in a way so as he entered the patio, I could have my friend take a photo of “me” but really catch him.  My husband was like, “no, don’t do this” and I said, “we will be natural”.  He took out his camera to catch us trying to be natural.  And guess what?!  It wasn’t and Jason Momoa totally caught us.  As he’s walking by me, Jason Momoa said, “How AWESOME. This is f&*#^%$ awesome.” As I turned he was looking right at us and all I could say to him was, “ooooh noooo.”

Monica Escobedo - "Here goes one of my most embarrassing moments.  Thankfully I had my brother to share this embarrassing moment with. In the summer of my fifth grade year I finally finished my catechism classes. Which consisted of memorizing prayers zoning off and running around the echoing halls of the old building with my new group of friends. The class I was in was too large, so instead of doing the communion ceremony on Saturday with my classmates, my brother and I had to do it in regular Sunday mass with half of my 5th grade elementary class staring at us. Since 1/3rd of my class attended the same church."

Usually in this segment we mention family members that are celebrating 1-3-5-10 year milestones. This month is an odd one with only off year anniversaries. So I would like everyone to join me in celebrating everyone. Take a minute to go to the office/room/cubical next to you and ask the person there when they started. While you're at it, ask what their favorite part of being Liberty Family is. One last thing, share those stories with me, Kip Tryon, so that I can share them with everyone!

Every family has that one person everyone trusts for good advice and guidence. The Liberty family is no different, when we have a question we all know who to ask, Christine Wigginton.  This months questions are from a reader in the OC office. let's find out, Does Christine Approve?

Eggnog?- Only with Brandy

LANN- Eggs are not vegan. Being a new convert my main job is to prothelatize, it's like a pyramid scheme. Also, always with brandy.
Liberty Holiday Parties? - They should be held at night, not during the day. But I do approve

LANN- I shall party day or night, the earths positioning to the sun means nothing to my need to party with my peeps.

Sushi- Yes!!!

LANN- I could not agree more, can you be a pescavegan, like a pescatarian but vegan. I'm making it a thing. It is now a thing!

The Land Before Time- So sad, but yes

LANN- It always makes me want to drink water from a leaf.

Christmas Music- Yes!!

LANN- Nooooooooo!

First I would like to say sorry to all of the people who were born in December. Your birthday has most likely always been over shadowed by the holidays and that stinks! I know I always ask people to do something like sing a song or dance a jig for Liberty birthdays, but this month I really mean it! Find these birthday peeps and make sure to brighten their day! We all deserve to have one day that we are celebrated by all. Help Liberty be the best place to work and show these people we care, Happy Birthday!!
